New Release

Here's a candid photo of the new CD from Clay Pipe. As mentioned before this is a joint release with Second Language and I can't say exactly what it is until all their subscribers have a copy. However copies should be available from their website in the next week or so.

Peter Hall

Later in the year Clay Pipe is going to put out some new music by Peter/GP Hall who released the above album 'The Estates' in 1975. It is really quite a magical piece of music that was created for the launch of South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknel... kind of unlikely, but then the best things often are. Its very rare and really needs to be reissued I think - along with the original artwork that is just so perfect for it. Unfortunately Clay Pipe isn't really a re-issues label, and it is Peters more recent music that I'll be putting out, but I'd love to find a home for this. You can read a description and download 'direct from vinyl' scratchy MP3's HERE

Christmas Download

You can download the title track from the Hardy Trees CD 'The Fields Lie Sleeping Underneath' From Darren Haymans Christmas in Haworth MP3 Advent Calender Here. He is putting up two free MP3s by musicians he likes every day until Chritmas. I'll be releasing a CD by Darren next year of instrumental tunes inspired by lidos/out door pools. So stayed tuned.

The next CD on ClayPipe will be out in January, It will be a co-release with the wonderful Second Language. We are keeping the details under wraps for now as the CD will be send to their subscribers first, after that the CD will be available through their website rather than through mine. As usual copies will be limited, sign up to the Clay Pipe facebook/twitter/mailing list to hear about it first. The packaging is really elaborate on this one and of course the music is very very special.

I'm very excited about the projects I have planned for Clay Pipe, it has been an amazing first year. I've got a lot lined up for next year and I'm really looking forward to working with, and creating the best packaging I can for some really interesting artists.

Happy Christmas!

Dazed and Confused

Clay Pipe has made it into Dazed and confused magazine and I got my photo taken by Rankin. It was due to Jarvis Cockers support - he seems to like what I'm trying to do!
Just finished stapling and folding 300 booklets and a whole pile of Goccoing - fingers crossed there will be another release before Christmas.

Thalassing was improvised in one night in front of projections of the sea, and is limited to 100 copies.

The Hardy Tree - The Fields Lie Sleeping Underneath

This is the second edition of the Hardy Tree CD this time in lovely Yellow Ochre, once again limited to 100 copies.

The music on the first Hardy Tree CD 'The Fields Lie Sleeping Underneath' was inspired by Frances Castle's local London neighborhood, a soundtrack to the past beneath the pavements, its early grass covered hills, Victorian hay day, and 20th century sprawl. Recorded at home in an attic room over a year, she has patched and stitched together a wonky orchestral jigsaw puzzle of sounds that hint at audio memories, ghost orchestras, cinema organs, folk song , and static and crackle.
